It's a two-day music festival at the home of Christian McShane and Jessy Taylor. They live on 15 acres about a block from Mission Lake near Merrifield, MN (about 1/2 hour from Brainerd, MN). You can camp on their land, listen to great live music, hike the surrounding area, go fishing at one of the many surrounding lakes, or just hang out. We love all kinds of music and have a lot of diversely talented musical friends. Jessy's cafe, The Eclectic Cafe, was forced to close in 2008, and Christian is a recently transplanted musician from Duluth MN..... So, we thought.... why not do a festival right at our own place? The first one in July went great, so what the heck, we did another! That went great too, so we're doing another. And another and another and another until, well... until we get sick of it, which from the looks of it, should be never.
Aside from our current lineup, here's who has played at our past festivals: Charlie Parr so, how much does it cost and where does my hard earned cash go? $5 per day/night. Kids under 14 free. All money goes right back to the performers. No kidding. Jessy & Christian don't make a penny. It's all about the music. how do i get there? The address is: 16456 County Road 109, Merrifield, MN. 56465 Keep an eye out for gold balloons blowing in the breeze. If you have any problems finding us, just give us a call. We have our phone with us at all times just in case someone gets lost. And most everyone does their first time out here. what should i bring? You, your loved ones, camping gear, an umbrella for shade or (gasp!) rain, snacks, something comfortable to sit on (we have 5-10 extra chairs and a whole bunch of wooden stumps, but they'll be on a first come, first served basis), an open mind and the ability to kick back, relax and enjoy great music and wonderful surroundings.
Dogs, attitudes, or drugs. Or dogs on drugs with attitues. Or guns. Or lice. That about does it. It's a BYOB kind of thing. Don't make the Jessy angry. We warned you.
We've got plenty of free water (via a sandpoint well). We'll also have ice cold bottled water and grilled hot dogs, but we encourage you to bring your own food. Bring a little more to share if you can. Somewhat traditionally, we usually have an big egg-bake breakfast feast Saturday morning (our 16 chickens help!).
A porta potty will be on-site. campfires? We have a very nice firepit and A LOT of wood at your disposal. what if it's cold? what if it rains? what if my socks are too loose? Come on now... it' a music festival! So quit 'cher whinin', get your butt here and HAVE FUN!
